Still doing more research!
I mainly fish Lake Ontario and Erie, as well as some smaller inland lakes and rivers and wondering how many Ranger 620 or 621 owners out there have jackplates or don't and wish they did and why, what am I really gaining, or is just a nice to have and it's mostly re-sale value?
I am seriously considering a 620 and maxing it out with the full 250hp.
Thanks

I have a 621 and decided against it - boils down to the fact that without it I have 3/4" clearance in the garage!
When I was looking their seemed to be 2 arguments for it - better top end (maybe 3-4mph, I could never get a straight answer) and the ability to drive slowly in shallower water, which seemed to make sense for bass boats but couldn't get the logic behind it in the Fisherman series...

I'm local to you, so you will probably see me either @ Port Credit or Niagara. If you spot me in black/silver metalflake 08-620, feel free to come over and ask. Set-up with digital 09-250 Yam and 8" hyd jack. Know you've been asking about this set up. Hydraulic jack improves plane time if you use it right and adds peace of mind for clearance depending upon where you fish. Also provides added clearance when loading and unloading at various angles of boat launches (so you don't 'kiss' the skeg when loading onto trailer). Linkage to kicker is a bit of a pain if you dont have it adjusted just right for raising and lowering motor, but overall its a good thing to have. Makes prop testing easier as well, so you can adjust at the 'touch of the button'. Cannot say how the boat runs without because I've never had the opportunity to compare. You should speak with Greg @ DT Powersports in Uxbridge and he can probably answer most of your questions.

Thanks guys.
Dave, send you a PM as it appears we're only a few mins apart and apparently fish the same water!
Still interested in what others have to say or add.
Thanks.

I run a 621 with a 8" hydraulic jack plate, one of the biggest reasons is to lower the motor in ruff water to stay hooked up and not blow out between waves, and your boat just got longer to span the waves better. your top end speed will not change that much on a fisherman series boat. another plus is no dinged props at landings or unfamiliar water or landings.

I had one on my last 621 and then ended up taking it off because it busted, I didn't get one on my new 621...for me I didn't see the benefit and didn't notice the performance difference at all, granted I had a manual which was set correctly the former owner did play with it so it was just right, both boats ride great, for the money I'd go buy some other goodies or upgrade something else. Just something else to break IMO.
