How long do these cards last timewise when tracking the bottom?
How long 8mb vs 16mb, I realize the 16 will be twice as long, anyone
out there have any experience using this function. Thanks in advance.

I called lowrance and asked them the same question. They told me that it depends on the features that are being mapped, but an 8 mb card should last in the neighborhood of 20 minutes (if I remember correctly!) You can double-check this with Lowrance. I don't have their 1-800 number handy, but their website is at: www.lowrance.com

From what I understand you can get good deals on MMC cards (they go up to 128 mb, I believe) by looking at the ads in some of the photography magazines. You might try looking in a mag called "Shutterbug". I have seen photo dealers listing cards up to 64 mb; I haven't seen the 128 mb card.

Do you have the X-15? If so, how do you like the recording feature? Have you tried to get GPS coordinates for structure seen on the recording?

If you want more time just check a computer store or a camera store for MMC cards. You can pick up larger ones up to I believe 64MB. You can also check www.pricewatch.com, under memory click 'Flash Card', then click MMC 64MB and you will see many stores with the best price you are likely to find on these cards. When last I looked they started at $17.00.

Pete,
Thanks for the info.
I just got my finder on tuesday. I don't even have it on my boat yet.
Can't wait till the ice melts here in Montana. I'd appreciate any info
you have on this unit such as settings etc,
Thanks

John,

I can't tell you anything about the settings as I haven't used the machine. I was going to wait until they came out with a WAAS capable unit. However, I just told my dealer to order the unit without the GPS and I'll add the GPS later. What I know about the machine is just what I have been able to learn from Lowrance, and the opinions I read on this board and others.

IM NOT TRYING TO BE A SMARTASS,BUT I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW OF SOME OF THE USEFUL PURPOSES FOR RECORDING SONAR GRAPHS. I THINK I KNOW OF THE REASON FOR GPS RECORDING BUT WHAT ABOUT SONAR?

Use for sonar recording. As long as you have gps reading recorded w/ sonar recording you can sit down after a good day fishing and update lake map with any new structure/cover you find. Also, it's alot easier to teach someone to understand what you are trying to teach them if you can show them actual returns vs. simulated returns.

John,
There was a sale at Stapels here in Great Falls a few weeks ago, I use these cards for my camera as well as my Lowrance, I can't remember the price as I missed the sale but am waiting for the next one. I used my X-15 last year, liked it so much I purchased a second one. I'm no expert on it but am learning all the time.
