View Full Version : evenrude e-tech oil
I have an 150 hp e-tech, the manual says to use synthetic oil. Is anyone using regular evenrude oil or should I keep paying the high price for synthetic?

Check with the dealer.I run evinrude oil from mega-mart,but my dealer told me I could and it wont afect my waranty. Some etecs have to be setup by the dealer to run the type of oil you want.

Run the synthetic. Talk to your dealer, make sure your motor is setup to use XD-100. There should be stickers indicating such on your oil tank and/or under your motor cowl.
The 150's use very little oil when setup to use XD-100.
You can buy the XD-100 oil online by the case for ~$200 delivered if your dealer is too high (like mine is) and doesn't carry it in bulk so you can refill your empty oil containers.
Good luck -

I run the XD100 in my E Tec. It's pricier than the XD50, but is purported to be a superior oil. You can run the XD100 in your motor no matter how it is programmed. If it is programmed to the reduced oiling ratio (XD100 setting) you shouldn't run the XD50.

Another advantage to the XD100 is it is what Evinrude says you must use if you fish in freezing temps.
