Hi

We've seen a drop in angling pressure on Mille Lacs so far this week even though the bite is similar to the past few weeks... evenings are good, and the daytime is better than we typically see in mid-August. While the bite is still scattered throughout the water column, the best bite this week has been between 14-20 feet. During the daytime we don't see a huge preference between crawlers/spinners (pink, copper), leeches on a long snell or slipbobber/leech - all have produced fish at sometime during the week. Three Mile Reef, Indian Point and the Tundra are all worth a look. The edges of the flats have some fish hanging around too, but there's a lot of natural feed out there... give the spots a half hour or so and move on. Slip bobbers and leeches (yes, we still have leeches) are the tops for evening fishing, although a few folks are trolling Shad Raps (silver, firetiger, SFC) in 8-12 feet with some success. Smallmouth are active in 3-8 feet on the boulders.

Yes, we still have leeches.

Finally, Before boarding a bus, a man asked the driver, "What is the fare to the train station?" "Sixty cents," said the driver. The man raced alongside the bus until the next stop and then gasped, "What is the fare now?" "Ninety cents," said the driver. "You're running the wrong way."
