Has anyone perfected a transducer guard. I just installed a new Bird 997cx SI which hangs below the boat aboat 1/4 " and sticks out the back by 5 inches. The dealer told me the transducer was worth about $600. I am thinking that this could be prone to damage from flying rocks. I rigged up some protection with an old hot shots ice fishn glove. Kinda micky mouse but better than nothing. Has anything been perfected for this purpose yet.

The transducers for the Humminbird SI units are around $200 (US) and you can probably find them a bit cheaper online.

I am not familiar with those transducers but the old ones you could flip up when out of the water. Can you with this one?

The transducer is meant to be a kick up if you hit something in the forward position, so yes iy does kick op. My concern with this is that if you keep kicking it up for traveling it will eventually "break in" to this mode and will kick up at medium to high speeds on the water.
