Last Fall, Lowrance replaced my 334i with an LMS-527c so I could have a unit that works in shallow, weedy water. I coupled it with an Airmar dual-frequency transducer and everything seemed good, same thing this past Spring. But, in late July, the unit stopped working at 50 KHz. Works fine at 200 KHz, but on 50 KHz mode, the digital depth readout flashes and the chart does not scroll. The proper transducer type has been selected and the problem exists with software revisions 2.4.2 and 2.5.0. Changing the set-up parameters does not help.
Suspecting the transducer, I connected a known-good LCX-27c to the transducer and found the 27c works OK at both frequencies in the same boat on the same lake where the 527c does not work at 50 KHz. So, it appears the 527c is the problem.
I have not heard this specific complaint about Lowrance dual-frequency units- failing to work at one frequency while working at the other. Has anyone else had the same problem?
