Anyone use these? I found some in the Fleet Farm bargain bin for $1.99. Couldn't resist buying a couple. Is it worth buying more or did I blow four bucks? I was thinking of trying them trolling on Bago.

I wouldn't say you blew four bucks. They will work ok. Try them out. Try tipping the front treble with a nightcrawler as well.

They catch fish, but nothing to write home about.

I use these for Lake Trout trolling them about 25 feet with 8/3 fireline in 45-50 feet of water. I have had a lot of sucess on the shad and parrot colored large risto raps. They have been a great bargin for me at $1.99 at wal-mart.

Dave, I think you should save them for Press! Might catch one of them big toothy critters. I think they are too much like me, too fat to attract anything. But you never really know. Good fishing this year!

Risto Raps work great for pike and largemouth bass. My biggest pike was caught on a parrot colored risto rap. I wish they still made them.

I bought an assortment of them when they were just out and have yet to catch a walleye on them. I've tried them on Winnebago many times over the years. Maybe I'll run one next time I'm on a really hot bite, just so I can say I caught a walleye on one.:-)

I took the hooks off mine and used them to replace old hooks on some old shad raps and wally divers. All dozen or so risto raps that I had are now in my kid's toy box. They're more productive there than they were in the water for me. :)

Last summer I was dragging around the parrot colored one in 30' of water on the St Croix River. Caught a 30" muskie and 2 14" eyes on it. Never have before or since. It was one of those days when nothing worked, so I was just trolling home, one deep, one shallow, added a little spark to a nice day on the river. I don't remember what shad rap I was running shallow, but it didnt catch a fish.
No such thing as a bad day on the water.

They are definitely not in the same class as the original Rapala or the Shad Rap. You could have worse things on your line - like maybe weeds. I think Rapala has gone "new product nuts" and a lot of the "newbies" just don't stack up to the "oldies, but goodies."

I have to agree with most of you;I've yet to catch anything on them.I did find a lost one, floating on the shore, and was full of hole's,like a Muskie had it's way with it. I can say those Shad Rap's and Fat Rap's have done very very well for me,here in Pa.I'll give them another fair run this year, but my faith in them wanes. The Ark was built by amateur's-The Titanic was built by pro's.

Hmmm...I've had success on Northerns along weed edges...the size seems to be a plus...feels like a tight wobble and fair "sound"...but hey I caught a northern on an old "church key can opener with a treble wired to the pointy end...Canada...had just lost my last Daredevil...out of spoons of any kind so I made my own!

Greg; Even the fat ones get lucky sometime. Look at me! :) I have had a great deal of "luck" using River Runts which have the slower, very wide side to side action. Won't make it to Press this year. Finlayson or Indian instead. Good to hear from you. Tight Lines!

DanL; Don't know where you're located but if you are anywhere near a Fleet Farm or Wal Mart check out the bargain bin. The Fleet Farm in Clintonville Wis. had about 75 assorted colors / sizes left.

On a couple of occasions I have killed 'em on #9 Ristos, banging river bottom.
However, for the most part, they are pretty "walleye proof"..LOL

I've caught more carp than walleyes on Risto's. Something about that round shape really does it for them. I caught a 21 lb'r on a black back with gold foil sides. Perhaps it really is a Carp eat Carp World after all :)
