flush mount units

Do the new HDS and the older units fit in the same spot for the same size if they are flush mounted? Want to change to a flush mount but don't want to cut a hole in my boat if the newer HDS unts won't fit the same cut out as my older 520 and 26 units.

No the HD units are bigger. They will not fit into the same size opening. A flush mount kit is not required anymore either. The front outside plate comes off and there are 4 screw holes behind it to mount the unit with. Screws are covered when the plate is put back on.
