what are most of you using for line release on in line planer boards ? I am having a problem with my releases holding my line . It seems that my fireline crystel 10# slides through. I switched to 14# and I still have the same problem . So I need a suggestion as to what type of line release works best with these thin lines. Oh I am using an off shore release 14 or 19 on off shore boards. My other boards are churches , with church releases , they work better but still slip once in awhile.

I use the OR-16 (red) on the front
It has a nipple that holds the line from slipping out of the snap

On the rear i like the Or-14 (black) snap. It hepls in getting the board off fast

I've seen the OR-19 (orange) snap but haven't used them.
After switching to the OR-16 snaps I've yet have a board comes loose on it's own

get the snapper release for the offshore boards.... holds absolutely anything. on the normal type clips (even the 16 with the pin) the pads get wore out, especially with braid.

Tracker1,

I make up my own. They have at least 5 times the surface area to grip the fine super braids. When adjusted properly, they never slip. There is a picture of them in my album here on WC.
(Note the old metal brackets on the planer boards, kind of a testament of never having to chase a board too)

The OR-18 Snapper release is the only release that will hold superlines like Fireline or Power Pro without slippage on an Offshore board, I run these on the front and for added saftey an OR-16 Red release on the back, in 6 ft waves at 3.0mph you won't loose a board EVER...unless you don't connect it right or your release or worn out which does happen running braid after a couple years of hard use. The Snappers are adjustable as well crank them down for smaller diameter line, they are harder to close once you do this but you can bet the farm on it you will have no slippage and you won't loose a board.

I had heard about OR-18's as well. I will be buying a couple of those since I also use 10# Fireline.

Until you get one you can loop your line in the release, but a proper release would be preferred.
