I am having trouble transferring waypoints from home computer to my Lowrance LCX27 GPS. I follow directions make the WP file, transfer to an SD card under a .usr extension. When I load into GPS, my GPS does not recognize the contents of the folder (or waypoints do not load). Lowrance says it a software problem with Explorer and Navico says it should work. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Are you pretty familar with how to load a .usr file onto your Lowrance?
If you have created a good .usr file it should go right over via the tranfer my data menu.
Maybe give us a rundown of how your doing it and perhaps somthing in your loading process is wrong?

Yes, I would say I'm pretty familar with load/saving data. The HotMaps file comes over in a .usr folder (waypoints, routes, etc. are in the folder). Then you load the folder and Lowarance will not open the folder so it does not save the waypoints. It will save the folder, but will not open it.
What size data card are you trying to run? If your using a 2gb card, try a 1gb or 512mb. The LCX's have had some trouble with the larger card..

When I've transfered stuff from Nav HM explorer to my lowrance I've always manually copied the needed .usr files in the root directory on the SD card.
When you went to save the file, did you move the waypoints from the left pane to the right pane in the Lowrance Data Exchange pop up window? If you do not do this, the waypoints will not be saved in the .usr file. It will just be an empty file.
Look in the Help File and click on Contents and the on Memory Card Data Exchange. Then click on Lowrance Data Exchange for a complete explanation on how to import or export files for Lowrance products.

Martin,
If you save a folder with the .usr file to a SD card Lowrance can’t load it. The .usr file must just on the SD card and not in a folder.

My mistake on my last post on .usr in a folder not being seen on the Lowrance, I tested it and my 38 sees the .usr in a folder but my emulators will not see .usr files in a folder. Sorry for the misinformation.

Yes, I did it that way. Maybe I'll try one file at a time. Does Lowrance have a program that I can download to first then copy my imports from that site to the unit. Sure would be a lot easier doing it all on the computer first.
