Guys I am really struggling with which depthfinder to purchase. I don't want to spend the extra $150 to go to the X91 Lowrance. Anyone have any insight to give me based on experience. They are with in $30 of each other. The only difference I can see is the pixel's. The Eagle has 240 vs 160 for the Lowrance. Will be fishing mostly walleyes in 35 feet or less. Also a few lake trout in 150 feet or less. They both have split screen easy to read menu's ect.
Any insight appreciated.

pixels are the difference in price like you said. you need a unit that has a good greyline to see bottom and low fish. buy the best you can afford. e-bay has some pretty good deals on last years models and you may be better off than buying too small a unit.

I have not run either one, but based on their specs, I would go with the Eagle Fishmark 240. The 240 vertical pixels will allow you to see bottom hugging walleyes much better than 160 pixels. More pixels give you more definition. They both have the same power, both have Grayline, ASP and windows. When you move out to 150 feet, you might find that the power isn't enough to see thermoclines, or fish at the edge of your cone, but for the shallower water walleye fishing you talked about it should be great.

Remember that the LMS 350A which we ran for years only had 200 VP so you are getting a great unit.

Don't get too swayed by Lowrance over Eagle. Both are made on the same assembly lines (yes, in Mexico) and use over 98% of the same parts. The primary difference between the two have almost always been the number of view options or the method of backlighting the unit.

For all intents and purposes the Eagle FishMark 160 is the same as the Lowrance X-71, the Eagle FishMark 240 is the same as the Lowrance X-91. So why the extra $$ for Lowrance? The answer I've always received from Lowrance/Eagle customer service is those "extra" features, but they openly acknowledge they are made at the same place, on the same line, using almost all the same parts. Give Lowrance a call at 800 324-1356, Eagle at 800 324-1354. The same customer service reps answer.

All that being said, the Eagle FishMark 240 (Lowrance X-91) is a great unit and should serve you nicely.
