I meant to purchase a second drift bag of the same size for my 16' aluminum boat but got home to find I had the next size smaller than the one I already own. After thinking about it for awhile I began to wonder if having two slightly different sized drift bags to use in tandem to control my side drift is a liability or an assest? Anyone have an opinion on my quandry? Steve (IA)

Steve,
I don't know what type of driftbag you are using, but check out the Wavetamer from JNB Originals at driftbag.com They make two sizes...a 40" and 52" bag. The 40" diameter bag would be more than enough to slow down the size boat you have. You can run two of these bags if need be, but I think one would certainly do the job. Since the bags have a float built in, you can let them out quite a distance from your boat, getting the bag out of the way so you can fish under the lines( I usually put mine out 15-20 feet from the boat). Check 'em out..they are by far the best bag out there. And don't forget about the Leech Tamer also...another great product from JNB

I don't think this will cause any problem, at all. If it does - tie the smaller bag to the rear with the larger bag in the front giving you greater resistance to wind whip of the bow. Problem solved.

Ranger, Tying the larger of the two near the bow was my thought as well. There isn't much size difference between the two bags and I thought maybe my mistake could actually be a benefit. Steve (IA)

An earlier post on this board has something to consider...
If you use and/or need drift bags for controlling trolling speed, especially in shallow water, using two off of each side of the boat will give you control for both speed and direction. If you have two of differing sizes, the control would be a problem.
If you do not see yourself in water under 5 feet, this probably isn't a concern.
