Ray 45 radio mounting?

I don't really have a good place to mount my radio where it would be sheltered from rain and spray, so I'm thinking of just mounting it right on the side of the electronics shelf, next to my other electronics in my tiller boat. I know the radio is supposedly "submersible" but I don't want to push my luck. Do you folks think it will be OK if it's not sheltered somewhere?

I know some of the other models don't last 2 minutes if they get wet, how waterproof are the Ray radios anyway?
