I plan on purchasing a new boat this winter (16'-17') but do not have many dealers near me for the boat that I am considering. (near ocean, mainly saltwater rigs) The closest dealers (that I would go to) for those boats are as follows.

Tracker-30 miles
G3-72 miles
Crestliner-145 miles
Alumacraft-172 miles
Lund-253 miles

I'm most interested in Lund but coudn't imagine having to travel 253 miles one way for a warranty repair. I hate to settle on a Tracker just because of location. How much consideration should I give dealer location?

Specifiically, what models are you looking at? If it's a tiller, you could do what I did, buy the hull of your choice from the Lund dealer, but get the motor of your choice from a dealer closer to you. If you're the least bit handy, the little stuff that may pop-up you'll take care of yourself. If it's a major problem, then the 4 hour ride is no big deal.
Happy Shopping.

Keep in mind that motors can be serviced and repaired by any authorized dealer nomatter what boat brand they sell. The rest of the boat usually won't give you any problems if it's a quality boat. As long as you can get motor serviced locally, buy the boat you want.
