Not sure when they were bought by HB, but it's been less than 10 years because I almost bought one of their units for my first boat in 2003. That was also the year we bought our Bottomline Fish 'n Buddy portable fishfinder that we take to Canada with us.

$50 is a preaty "Optimistic" quote at repair costs, especially for a no longer manufactured unit.
Even if you find a repair center willing to work on it, shipping will run half of that estimate alone before you get to parts of labor.
If it is a fault in the display, or the main board, it is not likely it would be reparable at all, as they replaced the whole unit when new if those failed.
a friend of mine has a bottomline tournament master I think, it was a big screen for the time. he had it repaired oh quite a few years ago, he sent it in for repair and I think the only thing they didn't replace was the shell. it came back with a new board and screen, gps module and it was either 50.00 or 150.00 I don;t remember which.

I have a tournament HR sidefinder version. Does anyone know where I could buy the transducers for this unit?

I have a 5100 that is complete with wiring, transducer and books for $75.... don't know where to pick up parts, though.
Had an old Tournament Master unit that I sent in to Computol (Boise, Idaho) and had it serviced for $70. It included a new board, memory, glass and updates..... a good deal back then.

I had the exact same unit, and I had it completely overhauled for $149.00 at the factory (many years ago), which included upgrading it from an 8 to a 12 satellite unit.
I hated that unit so bad (would loose bottom, and GPS took WAY to long to find satellites), that even having it repaired I actually sold it to Tommy "O" for 22 cents because he had the same unit, and loved it ( I hate giving stuff away for free  ).
I bought a Garmin, liked that, but then got a Humminbird 1197. That Humminbird can't be beat
