Why does it take so long to get an order for these lures? I ordered about 3 weeks ago and called today, they told me it could be another week or two.You would think the best lure company would makes bunches of the lures over the winter time (slow time) so they could ship them out right away. By the time I recieve my lures the coho bite will be over in lake Michigan.

Who did you order from? I placed an order thru reelbait and it was shipped the next day. Could be that they are waiting for inventory too. Reelbait has always been quick with their shipments, at least for me.
Ordered mine from Den at the outpost and they were here in 4 days.

They were slow for a long time and just like that they got swamped! They can't paint them fast enough. Good things take time to get. Don't think about the lures and they will arrive much faster.

I ordered mine from reelbait back on March 5th and still have not gotten them. I just talked to Al over there and he said that they are very backed up. Seems some colors like Rainbow trout, trailer trash, and purple demon are very hard to get right now. Thats what I know about the situation.

Hawgboy,
If you ordered them direct from the factory, your order generally will get in behind the retailers orders. They sell tons of these things and you'll have to wait until those orders are filled. That is my guess.
You wonder why it takes so long, look at all the colors they make. Holy cow!
Hey, that could be a new one. Black & white with a gold head?
Depending on what colors you ordered, it may be a while, or a short time. Scott is a perfectionist on his lures. if they aint right they dont get sent to anybody. he has a good business because of the way they work, and look, and he isnt going to let it go to pot for a hurry up bunch of not so good looking lures just to get caught up. i too have quite a few colors that i am waiting for to get back in the shop, but i am willing to wait , and i do tell the customers that certain colors may be a while before i get them to them, but the majority of the regular colors i send the next day. no excuses for a top line quality lure. i hope this helps people understand the situation a little better. good luck and good fishin.

I'm not a lure dealer, but I have a few extra shallow little rippers that I picked up on clearance that I'd be willing to share. Colors are purple demon, eriedescent, gold clown, and fire tiger. Contact at lunker@lisco.net if interested. Thanks.
Hawgboy,
I just got off the phone with Scott concerning your problem, and he knows how you fell (he's a fisherman too). He is very sorry for the inconvenience, and they are cranking out lures as fast as he can. He was there till 11 last night and come in at 6 the morning. (must have slept fast)
Custom colors and some popular standard colors are the big problem, and he suggests possibly ordering a little earlier next time to not experience the same problem.
You might think about doctoring up a couple of the lures you have with majic markers to simulate the desired color in the mean time. It works pretty good in a pinch. They sure aren't near as pretty as the real thing, but the fish don't seem to mind too much.
Scot really appreciates your business and your loyalty, and hopes you understand his predicament.
Good luck and good fishing.
At times I have waited over six months to reveive orders for some of the custom Reef Runner colors. Honestly, I have absolutely zero problem with this. Reef Runner is a smallish company that has carved out a niche in the crankbait market by producing awesome baits in a WIDE array of colors. I'm sure production would be no problem if Scott produced say 10 colors like Rapala. But he doesn't, he produces many custom colors through the input of fisherman. Custom colors take time, just like a factory has to re-tool to produce a different item, Reef Runner has to "re-tool" to paint different baits.
Best Regards,

Everything I read here is the truth. We have been told by Scott and the folks at ReefRunner that the backlogs should be taken care of shortly. We try our best to accomodate all orders with normal next day service. To that extent we have taken the baits off the web site as to not create a series of extensive back orders. Additionally, we attempt to call or e-mail our customers let them know what is up with their orders.
If it is up on our site, it is in stock! If it isn't, we are waiting like the rest of you. I appreciate your patience and at the moment we are back ordered on only 3 orders. Not bad for the volume of orders we are dealing with.
