I need a couple bait caster sticks to fish smallies and ocassionally wally's. I'm a muskie fisherman so every stick I pick up looks a little wimpy. I've decided I want a couple BPS Extreme rods but I don't know what length or stiffness to get. Can someone help? Thanks.
Initial toughts are 7ft Medium Heavy.

med. heavy is too much, i use an extreme 6' med. on saugers and it
does fine. if you'll be casting a distance for smallies a 6'6" should
work--do they make a one piece 7' i personally don't like 2pc.

Go with a 6'6" medium action extreme rod. I just got one last weekend and it is really nice. Good luck!

I have had my favorite rod, BPS Extreme 6'6" trigger rod for 4 years now. Caught several trophy walleye (28"-32" ) using this rod in Quebec Canada. I use this rod for bottom bouncers up to 2oz., casting crankbaits and bucktail spinners for northern, and trolling. My wife finally pried this rod out of my hands. Only because I bought 2 new ones on sale for $59.99 each.

This depends on the aplication you are using. A 7' medium in the xps will cover most of the bases for you. I have 4 xps bait caster rigs and love them.

I run charters on the Tittabawassee River for walleyes and supply all the equipment for my clients on these trips. At first I thought giving them cheaper outfits was a sound idea, not knowing how they would treat the equipment. I soon found out that that was a bad idea, even if they were a little rough on the equipment. Feel and sensitivity are factors you must have in a rod when casting jigs for walleye. They were getting bit and couldn't feel it. I bought the 6' Extremes, medium actions for my charters and teamed them with Cardianl 4 reels, Cabela's 2/10 Rip Cord and I'm very happy I did. I have the 7 ft model, medium heavy action that I use for pulling bouncers. It also doubles as my Pike stick. I am going to order the 6.6 ft medium for blade baits and jigging spoons. They are excellent rods for the money!
