No response to this question in the other crankbait thread below.....sorry if I've taken up too much space with a duplicate. I've been searching for my favorite crankbait the Rapala "Deep Diver Shad Rap".....with NO success. Bass Pro, Cabellas, even the Rapala net site does not list this model of Rapala lure in this years offerings. Yes, there's Risto Raps, Fat Raps, Shad Rap RS, Husky Jerks, Countdowns, Jointed and Floating Rapalas.....did the company discontinue the Deep Diver Shad Rap series....if so, I'm in the panic mode! Anybody know what's happening with this?

Not a chance! Rapala does not make a "Deep Diver" Shad Rap, per se. The Shad Rap is the deep diver, vs the Shallow Shad Rap.

Dave: I'm the first to admit.....I'm a dinosaur when it comes to computers/websites ect. When I click on Shad Raps on the link you sent, all I see are "Shad Raps" and "Shallow Shad Raps"......the lure box that contains the one I like reads "Deep Diver Shad Rap"......is this the "Shad Rap" on that website?? I know, I'm a cranky ol @#!%@!......if they're sellin Deep Divers.....why don't they say so? If that's the case, sorry all for the confusion, just wish these adcvertisments were a little clearer.

The "shad rap" listed on the website is the same thing that you're calling the deep diver shad rap. I think the box says deep runner on it, but the plain old shad rap is the deep runner.

Try this link, I don't know if it will help but it should be a link to the baits you seek at Cabela's.

Thats exactly right. some Shad Raps are labeled "Deep Diver" others are labeled "Shad Rap" they are exactly the same just different boxes from different years were labeled differently....you will see the lips are identical.

There are other Shad Raps Available,, SUspending, Shallow, and Jointed Suspending, and sinking/countdown so do not de confused.

I was at the cabelas store in East Grand Forks last weekend and they have it posted that Rapala is going to discontinue the clown and the blue/siler color line. I think that sucks because the blue/silver has always been one of my favorite clors. They said you can still order them but once there out that is it.

Just like they did with chartreuse/white....only to re-introduce a very, very similar version a few years later as a **NEW** color. Oh well, I hope the Normark investors are happy, this fisherman isn't.

I think you may be referring to the Down Deep Rattling Fat Rap. That model has been discontinued.

My two favorite colors . . .

"Friends don't let friends fish for trout!"

That is also what I was told! Those two are great colors I hate to see them go!

The metallic blue/silver was discontinued but was replaced by the old blue foil("Back by popular demand).

The clown color is no longer offered in the Shad Rap. I have noticed that the clown color was "hot" for a while but you don't see as much talk about it as before.

I have been a long time Rapala user but have decided to do whatever I can to NOT buy any more of their lures. This company does not listen to the customer, they develop their own marketing strategy to tell us what works best. My guess is that the CEO doesn't even fish. I have decided to look at all of the other company's products and use more of their products such as Renosky, Reef Runners, Bombers, Yozuri, and anything else that works. Call it a boycott or whatever you like but I am tired of finding something that works only to have it discontinued.

rapala sold out about a year or two ago to a chineese company that is the worlds largest maker of crank baits. why do you think they have all that junk in the bins at stores these days. the whole group of old masters are now so rich they dont have to work anymore and have since retired. they would now be my last choice for lures of any kind. this is fact.

You are absolutly correct and they have flooded the market with inferior products. Huge bins in every store.
