For those that have not been to this event before it is a great event. Very well run, what a great bunch of prizes over and above the money. I look forward to this event from 1 year to the next. You will have a great time and see some great people providing scholorships for a great reason. I will be there for sure, hope many of you can be there too. There is also a catfish contest too.

Anyone else from WC been there before or planning to this year?

Fished it in 06 I believe it was. Am planning on this year. Do you still need the Indiana Parks Sticker for your boat? Do the bait shops or boat dealers have them?

CJ, I am not 100% sure, but I think you have to get them from a state park office at Brookville or any one in Indiana.
I fished this event for the first time last year. It is an excellent tournament to fish with an awesome first place prize. This is one event that I will not miss. Hope to see you there.

CJ you can buy the sticker at the entry gate for the park. Mounds or Quackertown. I think you can purchase them online too on the DNR site.

Hope to see you there.

Townsend and Lang Capture 2009 Gaston Walleye Tournament Title:

First off we would like to thank everyone for all their help and dedication to making this event happen. Both Amy and I are thankful for all the support. Congratulations to Mike Townsend and Jimmy Lang on capturing the 2009 Gaston Memorial Walleye tournament. As the only team to boat a limit of keeper walleyes, the duo bested a field of 61 boats to gain the title and the first place prize. Townsend and Lang pulled light jigs tipped with crawlers on the north end of the lake amongst a small pack of boats. Figuring out a small detail earlier in the week during thier"practice time" allowed them to boat a number of legal size fish through out the day while the competitors around them just watched. Mike and Jimmy utilized thier knowledge of fishing the lake to take home a Brand new Crestlier Kodiak 167, Mercury 25 hsp 4 stroke and Trailer. Townsend and Lang also were the highest finishing boat utilizing a Minn Kota trolling motor and also won a trolling motor donated by Minn Kota. The second place team of W. Rummel and C. Hamilton won the Portable VHF radio donated by Humminbird and the highest placing boat utilizing a Humminbird fish locator. Caroline Koester knocked down the largest walleye of the event at 2.10 lbs. The fish will be mounted and on display at Parkside Marine, courtesy of Bohlander Taxidery.
N. Johnson captured the Catfish division of our event. Anchored with the big Catfish of the tournament, a 7.65 lbs fish, he weighed a basket in at 22.35 lbs. Congratulations to all those that cashed a check. And many thanks to all that participated. We hope to see you again in future years. Many thanks to Crestliner, Mercury & Parkside Marine for their donation of the first place boat, motor and trailer.
Again a tremendous thank you to all the participants and volunteers. It is you that make it successful. We look forward to another successful outing next September. We will keep you all posted as to our date once it becomes available.
