Scupper Stoppers?

Does anyone here use scupper valves on their transom drain holes for back trolling? I was considering installing a pair but would like some input form those that have them.

It looks like the rubber flapper type would be better than the encapsulated ball type.

Any comments......

Have had boats with both types and they both work. I liked the flaps a little better because it seemed easier to clean out when leave and pine needles would clog up. The "stuff" would also sometimes mess up the functionality of the ball type.
