View Full Version : Best Cabelas boat cover for my Lund?
I have a 2001 Lund 1800 fisherman, outboard with a 150, I looked at getting a custom cover made and they wanted about $650.With a one year warranty.
I see Cabelas has quite a few different ones and their more expensive ones are about $300. With a 6 year warranty.
Are these covers they sell any good, do they hold up? How about fit?
My boat is 18' 6" long and 95" wide.
The covers they sell are 19' or 18' 6" and either 100" or 94" witch one do you think a person should go with?
Thanks for your help

Les i got the same boat, and trust me get a custom made one. With the extra expense it will cost now, you will make up in value later. The cabelas ones will be loose and will wear the paint off the aluminum, I would not even travel with a cover if i were you, but to store, a custom one is the way to go.

LBS,
Many on this board favor custom or mfg snap on covers. Frankly, I prefer the slip on type with cloth straps and I have been looking at getting one of the Cabelas' ones too. Someone out there has to have one of the higher end models, which are designed with a liner not to scratch the boat.

I to think someone has had to of ordered one of these better covers from Cabelas.I'd like to know whitch one will fit my boat best.
I do not plan on trailering mine with it unless the weather conditions are terrible. I mainly want it for when it's parked outside when we are out fishing overnight, witch is every week.
At home I keep it in the shop without the cover. I mainly want one for when it rains and it's sitting out. I saw the ones that come on the 2002, the snap on travel cover and they look great, but 600 for the cover and 130 to install the snaps no thanks.

I have the cabelas trailpro II cover on my Starcraft 196 Superfisherman. I trailer with this cover on from Illinois to N dakota to rainy river. No paint missing on my boat and it's 11/2 years old. Had two previous boats and bought the same cover for them. The fit is good but not perfect because no two boats are the same. You can buy it and if it soesn't fit right you can return it. I also bought the straps so it holds the cover up so the water runs off. Pooling water is the worst for a cover. It sits in my driveway all winter and gets covered in snow. Holds up good. Any other questions feel free to ask.
