A group of us are looking to spend a week on Lac Seul musky fishing and most of us have never been there, so are looking for some info. Where to stay, what area to fish? Right now we have heard about the chamberlin narrows and are looking at renting a houseboat but thats as far as we are. Thanks in advanced.
We have stayed at Lac Seul Outposts in Chamberlin Narrows a half dozen or so times over the years. The VIP cabin we stayed in was real nice. This is a housekeeping resort so you bring you own food. It is a boat in of about 39 miles and so far as I have heard this NE portion of the lake is the best section of Lac Seul for Muskies and also has a good population of Walleye and Pike.
We were there on September 11, 2001 and they went out of the way to deal with our concerns on that tragic day. Got back to the dock at about 7PM and Ken met us to give us the bad news and let us use his cell phone (he had a high antenna connection and it worked) to call our families. He was as really upset about the days events as were we of course. He made a special trip in to get us newspapers the next day. I would not hesitate to go back to this resort. Check out this link for more info if interested.

We stayed at Lac Seul Outposts during July of 2006. The week we were there two Muskie Fisherman caught 6 Muskies. Nothing real big but they did have a couple in the 40" class.

Check out Moosehorn Lodge, I've had a couple friends use them and they were very happy with the results

Pickeral Narrows outpost is NE of Chamberlain Narrows and is provided by Anderson's Lodge. There is a nice cabin and access to lots of sheltered water. We were walleye fishing but the party leaving when we arrived had caught up to 50" and quite a few others. My son & I had a double one afternoon altho we were casting cleos for 'eyes. These were in the 20's.
We have used both Andersons & L.S. Outfitters. They both provide a quality product. Have dealt with Ken since 1983 and never have had a bad experience with him (altho I have had several boat issues -my boat, not theirs- and gotten good support). Dick also runs a good operation and has many more options since he has fly-ins, guided day trips and very nice motel/restaurant. See many older couples here all having a good time.
As for a houseboat, You are going to tie up lots of time and fuel getting between Hudson & Wapesi or where ever.
Our houseboat trips are kind of at the bottom of the heap for good times and we have not done so for a few years.
A great quote from one of the operators who screwed up a reservation was "there are 250 million americans, I can afford to pi$$ off a few now and then". It wasn't our reservation but indicitive of the mentality and the servce we had.
