Ok guys, I'm gonna put line on two rods for trolling, and two rods for jigging. This will be kinda spendy. What's the best bang for the buck. Pros and cons please.
I am familiar with fireline. It's OK
Thanks

St. Croix for jigging, color of line on the river really
is no problem, from what we are using on the tours 6 2 fireline in flame would be a great choice. Trolling line is open to the situation.

Who makes the red fishing line? I saw some at Spring Valley last week and I bet you can really see the stuff when jiggin.

The Cajun Line Co. makes a red mono that they claim will increase strikes because of it's blood red color.
I've got samples on the way and will post my findings after I use and abuse it
I don't think the red color will be as much a help in seeing the line above the surface as the fire green Fireline, golden Stren or flourscent pink Micro Fibre by Maxima will be.

Have used yellow Fireline for a couple years for jigging in the Detroit river. Switched to 15/2 Cabela's Ripcord SI. Much improved performance, less rod tip twist, really sensitive

St Croix Boy,

For your trolling reels there is nothing better than PowerPro. Try the rest and then try the best! Seriously, I have used it all and there are some pretty good lines out there and would be perfectly suitable for you needs, but do yourself a favor and try a spool of PowerPro and you will see why you really can't find anyone who doesn't like it.

I still havn't put the stuff on my jigging arsenal yet and I really should give it a try.

The Hi Vis 2-8 Power Pro is great for jiggin. Been using power pro for various types of fishing including steelhead and jigging for whitefish in the Grand Traverse Bays for about 7 years. We sometimes jig whitefish in water up to 180 ft and the hookset is tremendous. Give it a try you will like it.

Have to agree on the Power pro, I tried the Iron thread, it was good but they quit making it, then the Spider wire, it was junk end of second year, then the Ripcord it wasnt much better, finally the Power Pro, its the only one that has lasted for me since the Iron Thread, take care..Bob

Based on using most of the brands available,

Another vote for PowerPro. Cabela's Ripcord would be my close second choice. As for fireline, whiplash....they're OK, but why not go with #1 or 2.

Hands down, Power Pro.
