Used cranks baits for walleye in Canada for the first time last year and had good success...except for those toothy critters. They can cut off an expensive crank in no time. Tried using wire leaders but seemed to effect the walleye bite. What's the answere?

Had the same problem until a friend of mine told me about Invis-a-leaders by South Bend. They're a real small diameter about 5" long. Saved me alot of Pop-R's fishing for smallmouths in Canada. Try your local Wal-mart. They're hard to find in Indiana, but pretty common up north. They get kinky after awhile but it's cheaper to change leaders than loosing lures.

Thanks! I'll look for them at Wall-Mart.

I've used the same South Bend leaders that bosbar mentioned, but used them in bass waters and caught bass with them. My gut feeling is that if the other factors were right, the leader, in and of itself, would not keep the 'eyes from biting.
