Hello again everyone. new question for you all. I have finally recovered from the leason at Spring Valley. So now i start over, I got down there to find out that my Stowaway tournament Batteries were junk. I had them on the 3 bank charger and it showed them as good. Well they only lasted for 3 hours. UNACCEPTABLE. So i pose the question. What are the best Batteries out there? How about the new spiral tech Minnkota's or Evertrolls. I have also seen some good things about Trojans. I would appreciate any thoughts. I have always used Stoaways but the last ones didn't last 3/4 of a season.

Come on guys and gals. i know it's beating a dead horse but in this case it is my horse. I cannot go to another MWC tourney with batteries that will not cut it.
Thanks

IMHO the Trojan SCS225 is one of the best deepcycle battery's available for marine use. 225 minutes @ 25 amps. When I puchased mine they where $79.99 ea. from a Standard commercial battery dealer. This is the best advice I can offer from my experiences... Dutchman #220

Not a new question, there have been several threads about batteries this past couple months. Check the archives there were a lot of good posts. I'm with you on the Stowaway's, tossed mine after 1 ½ years ( there were posts from people saying they loved them ). I decided to go with the Trojans after reading the posts & doing my own research. Check the boats & motors archives also. Good luck.

Beleive it or not I have had outstanding service from AC DELCO batterys. AND the price is very resonable.

See what the Pro's run, Brumbaugh, Martin, DeShano, myself and many others choose Trojan. That speaks for itself.

I think if you do a search here on Trojan you'll find a website for them . On that site they have a dealer locator . Thats how I found them here in MN .

I fish 3 - 6 tourneys per year plus every other weekend at various lakes around the state. Mid-winter trips to open water, jigging all day, is hard on batteries.
The same A.C. Delco batteries have been working great on my 24v. MinKota since 1997. My on-board charger works good!
With all due respect to the Pros, several of them are good friends, how many of them actually keep their boats long enough to see when the batteries fail ?

Used intersate srm-27 last 6 years. Fish over hundred days a year and last 2 years. Run a 24 volt system 64 lbs thrust last all day and you can find a interstate dealer anywhere. Excellent batterys. My opinion.

Hit on www.trojanbattery.com and search for the nearest dealer to Green Bay. I just bought two 27 series Trojans and hope they are as good as I hear. Check the specks as the 225 series would not fit in my boat.

One thing to keep in mind aside from the charging of the batteries, is the adding of water. Most people will add water to a battery, but in most cases it is just tap water. Distilled water is what should be added. The minerals in the tap water act negatively on the battery and will cause early battery failure.
Many people lose a battery this way but are not aware of why.
