Just currious what size of minnows people like to use? Do you use different size for salted minnow than you do for a live minnow. Most of the fishing will be with Jigs in the spring with shinners.

Thanks

Just like the minnows the fish are feeding on, mine grow as the season progresses. From large crappie minnows or small fatheads this time of year to Pike size minnows by fall.

For jiggin' I prefer the biggest fatheads that I can get my hands on, For riggin' I prefer shiners, creekchubs and sucker chubs, all the jumbo size....

I get the biggest I can for that time of the season. Reb Chubs are a must if you can get them.

Does anybody use plastics with their jigs such as shad bodies or grub tails and if so do you use a smaller minnow?

I prefer a fuzzy grub with a large fathead for vertical jigging. There are times when a twister tail alone will do as well or better than a jig with a minnow. You have to let the fish tell you how they want it. Don't be afraid to experiment, like putting 2 minnows on the jig or trying crawlers or leeches. The biggest trick of all is finding fish willing to bite :)
