View Full Version : 10' leadcore rod any sugestions
Can anyone recommend a good 10'ft rod for 100 bucks or less.I will be trolling cranks like #5 shadraps with leadcore.I have a 10' ugly stick and a talora but don't like the tip action with small lures.

Try the Scheels Outfitters Pro Classic 10'6" MH. This rod has excellent tip sensitivity, a perfect taper for pulling leadcore, and its in your price range. Available at Scheels stores or online at www.scheels.com.

I also recommend these rods!! I like the medium/heavy action with my leadcore, they also work great pullin boards. Just caught a nice limit with em this past weekend!! :)

I just picked up a couple of the DD-106M's:
http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0036265120544a&navCount=2&podId=0036265&parentId=cat600377&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat20166-cat600377_TGP&catalogCode=9IS&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat600377&hasJS=true
Pretty heavy but a great price.

I have the 9'6" Mr. Walleye telescoping rods. They have a good tip and a great action for leadcore. They were $50 a piece. My only fault with them is sometimes I wish they had a little more backbone to clean the baits.
Eyeboom, my friend has those Cabela's rods and I think the action is a little heavy for leadcore. They are pretty big and clunky too. I liked them for long lining though.
Went to scheels site and when I clicked where you order only 2 other sizes came up and not the 10-6.I'll have to call there.
I need one for this weekend so I went to bass pro and got a 10'walleye sig series. The tip is pretty small so I hope it will be O.K.
Fife someone else recomended the Roach rods,I like telescopic.I'll have to look into those also as well as perigrines.

If it helps, ask for Joe Finneman at the Fargo Scheels store - 701-367-4460. Scheels is slowly bringing their web store on line, much of what is available is not listed on the website. They've always been good about taking phone orders, and Joe will be a good one to help you.
Oh, and I've got 2 of the 10'6" trolling rods too. It did not take long for them to be my first choice trolling rod. I have many others, but the Scheels rods are typically the first I reach for.

Does anyone think the 10' Scheels are to light and whippy? I've been running the Walleye Signature P&K 10 footer. The taper is really fast and feel like they're going to break at around the 3rd guide. The back bone is good but I can literally bend the tip back to the fourth guide.
