A group of guys are planning a trip to chequamegon bay in Oct, any ideas on baits, locations, and reasonable places to stay would be appreciated.

Walleyes here in October can be some tuff cookies! I've tried many of times with very little to show. The few I've caught came on the north end of the Bay, pulling leadcore and cranks over deep water, next to the break. You will probably catch everything else though...... bass, pike, salmon, and trout!
Good luck!

If you don't mind, what were you pulling for cranks? Does the bay stay pretty calm or does it get snotty that time of year?

Unless you're really set on going to Chequamagon, I would think about Little Bay during this time frame. I believe more fish & more consistent.
