I'm headed to Lake of the Woods in three weeks and need to get some gold jig heads. I can't seem to find any. I am looking for short shank jigs in particular, but will look at all styles. Any help would be great.

If you have a Gander Mtn nearby, they usually have gold Northland jigs in bulk.

Gold has been a hot color for me on the river here for the last couple of years.
I went to K-Mart and asked the lady where the "kids" nail polish was ...
I found a really great metalflake bright gold and other colors.
If you use nail polish be sure to do it in advance and let the polish "cure".
You will find it gives off solvent odor for a couple days after using it.
Do not put the jigs in your jig box until they are fully cured or all your jigs will smell like solvent.
I usually do up a dozen or so at a time to keep the supply going.
I also have metalflake green, red, orange, purple, etc.
Nice cheap way to go and is a fast application with deep colors ...

Gander will have Gold Northland Jigs and in bulk.
I would also recommend you look at Reel Bait Jigs Gold Flasher jigs on there web site.

You can order today and have them in a couple days....awesome jigs, deadly on fall walleye .
They also have Red, blue, and ornge metalic finishes that are very good, in the transparent jigs line. A particularly hot patern of theres is called the Penguin...get a few of those for sure.

Try this if you can't find any gold jigs:
Get yourself some un-painted jig heads and buy some Pro - Tec Powder Paint in gold color. Takes about 4 to 5 seconds to heat up a 1/4 oz. size jig head and dries within about 10 seconds. Follow instructions to bake in oven for a super durable finish.
Super easy to do!

Thanks for the help. Fishco, I have the powder paint, but it is not close. Gold plated jigs are the ticket.

Granted I am talking about ice fishing here, but ......
......... every time I go to LOTW I hold off on my tackle purchases until I get to the local bait shops. It seems like every bait shop up there has a kick-a$$ selection of baits that I never see anywhere else. If you ask me it truly is a kid-in-candy-store experience up there.
But, if my heart was set on having gold jigs for my trip, I'd probably track some down before I left just to be on the safe side. But I would still hit at least 1 or 2 baitshops up there and would expect to find something better than what they offer at the stores around my home ....
