hi all,

my very old Bottomline 310EL seems to have finally went the great fishing electronics place in the sky :(
I need to replace it with something cheap, but at least as good(I would assume that pretty much anything could do that now-a-days). I would like to stay around $150 if possible, as my budget has been killed since my trolling motor died weekend before last.

thanks for your help!

Well at that price point there are a few good ones.

Eagle 320 is a pretty good black and white sonar with good resolution. For just a few bucks more you might find a Garmin 300c. I had great luck with my last Garmin, but sold it with my boat. Never a single issue with it.

Otherwise I might suggest looking for a good lightly used Lowrance or Humminbird. Lots of used ones go for under $200 on the auction site and the list kept by Craig.

The Hummingbird 160 C is a amazing new unit for $210. Very bright display, easy to use. A great value in a color unit.

The Eagle Cuda 300 is a good buy at $80.

The Eagle FishEasy 350 C is a good color unit in for $200.

It was about this time of year that I bought my Eagle Fisheasy portable on clearance at Wallmart for $50. I wont say its a great unit but it works good and at that price it comes close to great.

don't buy other folks problems........just get a Humminbird. They are brighter, easy to ready, and work great. Yeah, they paid me 3 million to say that, but I use one anyway. Good luck.

I would be very reluctant to buy used electronics of any type, particularly marine electronics, but free would be a great value too if you were not focused on a particular technology. We have used an Eagle FishMark 480 for the past 4 years which has been flawless.
