If the weight is matched correct they don't let go. The float should almost most sink. Its deadlly!

I agree with Jimmyjig. Don't use those big round things but a long skinny one.

When I fish "in the timber" (notice the cane poles) with a 3" bobber and a 5-6" chub, the walleyes always "pop" the bobber a couple of times, before they take off running. You can always tell when it's a northern, it's down and gone! Of course, when it goes down rrreeeaaalll slow, it's a turtle!

One evening on Mille Lacs my buddy and I were slip bobber fishing with our usual equipment. Throughout the day we had experienced many hits while drifting our presentations over productive areas. We experienced almost as many misses.

When our slip bobber fishing started to produce lite bites but no fish I decided to re rig. I put on the smallest slip bobber I had and replaced the split shot with the smallest I could use. My catch rate jumped immediately. My buddy refused to make the change and he continued to get bites but connected with no fish.

This was the one time when I experienced this.

I use the same small bobbers I use for crappie fishing, like said before, the smaller the better.. imho

If walleyes are agressive it probably doesn't make much difference, but when their slow to bite lighter usually is better.
