Modified Offshores with Tattle and break away

Here are the mods I have made to make my own Tattle flag system that (goes up) like a tipup when a fish grabs it and I also added a leader system that alows you to still have the board slide down the line afetr released so you don't have to chase down the boards which is a pain in the *** when running 3 or more. If I was running two I would just let it pop clear then retreive them.

First I removed the flags and rear eyelet for release. I use some eyelets from hardware store to mount in location in the pics. also a spring from hardware store that isn't to heavy. I made the wire the goes from flag to release out of bulk leader material that you twist and melt with a lighter. I cut one section off front of weight on bottom to help bring the nose out of the water so it doesnt dive in bigger waves. The pictures are self explanitory for anyone who is mechanical. I just thought it out in my head what would work and what wouldnt and this is what I came up with. Also wrote my name and number on top of boards incase one got lost somehow and an honest fisherman retrieved it.

What was it that made you decide you wanted the flag to go up instead of down?

What was the "need" to change it? Or, did you just want to play with it?

I kinda like the pop-up idea, especially for scanning a bunch of boards out. Instead of trying to see if a board far out has a tilted flag, if you see red at all, you know something is up.

With the flag 'up' they are a heck of alot easier to find if they do come off the line in big waves.
It's also makes them easier to see by other boats trolling in your direction.

We originally made the tattle flag with it ****ed until we got a hit. The problem was on a big wave or a strike that did not hookup, you only got one indicator that there was a strike. That is why we went to the pull down method. Any way you do it helps you catch more fish!

I know that the flag up idea helps other boat see them but we dont have that many in a area at one time also only fish in 2 foot chop or less.
It is more like a Ice fishing tipup idea which I am use to and out of the corner of my eye I see orange I know its either a weed or a fish that made it go up. easier to see out of corner of your eye then having orange up all the time and waiting for it to go down. Made the flags for about $2 a board from scratch
