Looking to maybe get a crossbow for next year. I've seen cams on a majority of them and also seen some with re-curved limbs. Question is, which limbs are best for a crossbow? Will the cams go out of tune easier and give more problems over the re-curved? Any expert advise will greatly be appriciated.
My father has shot a Ten-Point for about 5 years now and has had very few issues with it. I believe the recurve models are more quiet but he has never had an issue with a deer hearing his split limb model until it was too late. You can hear it for quite a ways in a quiet woods and the sight mount for scope adjustments is right on.

Hello: I have both recurve and compound crossbows. They are both accurate. The range is the same as a regular bow. Some people think you can shoot a lot farther because of the extreme poundage of the crossbow but the arrows are so much heavier with a crossbow. I began with a Horton compound crossbow it worked great, but now I use my Excalibur recurve for hunting. Only because it is more simpler. I have scopes on both of them. You can also carry an extra string with you and can change it yourself if you have a problem in the field. I have heard stories of guys getting excited and cut their string with the broadhead and have to take their crossbow to a dealer to have it fixed. but it hasn't happened to me yet . I use non expandable broadheads and have had excellent results with them. Good Luck to you. If you need anymore advice let me know. Outdoorsron.

I have been looking at the Barnett Predator and one called Excaliber. The Barnett is the compound and it does look complicated. Although it has a higher FPS, the Excaliber isn't too shabby either. Aside from the possibility of changing out your own string as it would be with the Excaliber, what would be other downsides to one that is the compound? Thanks for your answers!
Jdino, I have been kicking the idea around about giving a crossbow a try. My standards for a traditional bow has been to get one with enough speed to effectively shoot to 30-35 yards with a single pin. By this I mean the arrow trajectory is flat enough where an arrow may be 1.5 high at 20 and dead on at 30 and 1.5 low at 35 as an example. I would like to know from the crossbow users out there if the fast heavy bolts give flat trajectories out to 35 yards and what models/brands are that flat.

I have been a member of ArcheryTalk.com for quite a few years now.
They have a section for crossbows and some very knowledgeable people post there. As a "newby" to crossbows myself a couple years ago, I asked a LOT of questions just like yours. Which led to more questions of course ...
Why don't you take a look at this and see what responses you get by posting your questions there?
