I was planning on coming up on Saturday & Sunday to fish the Huron/Vermilion area pending the weather. Is the lake turned up bad from all the wind? Looks like winds are forecasted 20 SSW on Saturday! Will this be tough fishing out of this area. I know NNW you might as well forget it!

After the page loads, Click on: Complete HURON, OH Hourly Forecast (right below the short term hour-by hour forecast)
Then use the drop-down menu in the right corner of the forecast box.

>>>>
http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/cle/marine/marine.html

Click on the Forecasts/Warnings tab (near the top)
Now scroll down and open both the Nearshore & Offshore text forecasts

Then go back to the Forecasts/Warnings screen and click on the Graphical Forecasts tab. After the page loads, read the instructions & slide your curser over something, pause long enough for the screen to change, then move the curser over something else. Wave height predictions, etc.

Depends on how much you want to fish... There most probably will be at least a few better weekends before mid-December. If you decide to go, it wouldn't hurt to call Den at Sportsmans Outpost and/or Craig @ Erie Outfitters and maybe check Ohio Game Fishing.

Always check the channel water depth before launching at Cranberry Marina if there is a strong S wind.

Good Luck

Den closed his shop like a year ago FYI call Craig at Erie Outfitters or check OGF.

The forcast this weekend blows, stay home. Let the fish adjust to the water temp drop, they will get adjusted come closer to show and get into the fall patterns over the next couple of weeks, let's hope we can get some half way stable weather. Fishing after the wind and weather we have had in the past week is the pits. I live 40 minutes from the fish and I'm not even going to bother yet.

K Gonefishin, thanks for the info! I think I may pass. I live in Troy, OH approx 2 1/2 hrs from the lake. Don't want to spend a lot of money for rough seas, bad weather, and no fish. I would like my teenage son to have great time!

Good idea, the updated forcast is pure garbage anyways. I hope the weather improves I'd love to get out next weekend for some perch and walleye action fall my favorite time of year, well fishing period is my favorite time of year but something about cooler weather fishing that make my blood boil it actually gets my exited, expecially in November and December. October can be good but the hogs don't show up till pretty late. I saw a report from less than 10 days ago from guys smashing 12,11 and multiple 8's and 9's in one trip off Conny, that school of fish is the ones I want when they come back to Huron/Vermilion and put the feed bag one prior to winter. Good shot at a 13-15 pounder. I got a 12 in March this year but I want a real HOG!!

Ohh dude I'm not complaining it's taken me all my life to catch a 12 and I'm happy with it but now it's on to one bigger you know! I swear after the fight this fish gave me and when it hit the deck I was calling 13 it was a horse! Gart got that 14 last year and others have gotten 13's and 14's I know they are out there, fall is the time to get them! Or pre spawn (like this one)...as you know, your chasing just like me Bob. You tailing it up here this fall I haven't seen you all year?

Just busting your grapes bud. I missed you at the Hawgfest, I was there but never saw you. I'll be in Huron for WC and hope to get up there before that if the lake chills out. Hope you got the motor figured out.

It was a rough weekend to say the least, never made it out Friday spent all day driving around and at Vic's and more driving around. Got back late, missed the captains meeting, fished and had to deal with an extra boat and truck I had to borrow from a friend, missed the VOL party/awards deal and still didn't get home till midnight due to all the extra driving returning the extra boat and trailer ...needless to say I hope WC weekend and Thanksgivin weekend go better for me and offer more fun, more buzz, less driving and a fully functional Ranger :driver: and maybe some good fishing with calm water.

It was a :horsepoop: Hogfest weekend. Thursday was fun though. I made the best of the cards I was dealt. I lost a fish that would have got me a check too. Tough fishing out of someone else's boat. First thing in the morning my crew had there head up there butt and didn't put the plug in after I told them too, then the AP took crap on me, 2 stroke kicker kept stalling all day, seat broke, and I had a crew member sleeping in the front of the boat all day, had to wake him up to net fish. Not gooooood.

Sounds like the lake is gonna be all messed up again for the weekend. 35 knot gales. Can't wait to get to Huron area.

This past weekend actually had decent fishing but the weather and wind sucked. Fish were pulled from vermilion to huron 3-6 miles offshore. About any presentation caught fish with a slight edge to harnesses. All levels of the water column produced but top 12ft was probably the most productive.

Papascott, thanks for the update. I didn't go based on the wind forecast! I "may" head up there on Friday weather permitting of course. However, father in law is coming down from MI. Not sure he will want to go! However, he does love to walleye fish and has never experienced LE. Also, need to convince the better half as she does not see them often.

Sounds like "Murphy" really moved in with you for the whole weekend. One thing after another after another gets real old and tiring fast. Was your sleeping partner sick or just tired? If he was just tired he would of heard a few choice words if he was in my boat.Actually I think I saw and reconized you from your pics on the boards Friday morning at the ramp prefishing for Hawgfest but was not sure other wise would of said hello.Hope everthing gets straightened out with your boat quickly if they have not already got it fixed.
