Whats up with Skeeter rating this boat for only a 115hp for 2010? I have a 150hp on mine and it performs awesome.

This is only a guess on my part, but I know that Yamaha Marine was working with the Mertens Marine guys trying to get a Mertens Titan non-powered assist system qualified for the F150, since there are a limited number of new Mertens Enginesteer full-power systems remaining that could be offered. Perhaps the F150/Titan combo isn't finished yet.
Maybe Skeeter ought to think about hanging "black" motors on that hull. I'm thinking a 175 ProXS Optimax or 175 V-rod Big Tiller motor would work really nice on that rig! :stirthepot:

Check out mrmarineinc.com if you want "Black" on the back of your skeeter. I just finalized a deal for a 2009 WX1880 with a 175 pro XS on the back. Should be a great motor for this boat. Downside is that putting "Black" on the back, does cost a little more if you buy a console boat. Mainly because you have to pay for the controls and stuff. If you got a tiller, I would assume the price would be similar. That would give you the option of getting Merc's new Big Tiller handle.
Skeeter listens to their customers and dealers. I'm sure they know there is a demand for a 150hp rating on the 2000t. My guess is that they are working on it as we speak. When the WX1950 first came out last year, it was only rated for a 200hp. The dealers got them to change it to a 225hp. Like I said, they listen to their customers and dealers. Plus, the website says that the WX1850 is rated for a 200. This is incorrect, it should only be rated for a 150.
My understanding is that the 2000ts made after mid August have the 115 rating only. My dealer gave me the same information as stated above. I would think they'll have this figured out soon.

There are a couple things to consider here. First, Skeeter boats are owned by Yamaha corporation. They'd really rather not have anything but a Yamaha put on that boat. They aren't going to make it easy, convienent or cost effective to hang a merc, Evinrude, Honda or Suzuki on it. Same goes for Lund or Crestliner. They are owned by Brunswick and aren't coming with anything but a Merc unless someone demands it, and pays more for it. If you want a choice in outboards, you have to look to the boat companies who are still independant (i.e. SmokerCraft, Starcraft, Alumacraft etc...)
If Skeeter (or any manufacturer) de -rates a hull it's most likely because it was A) unsafe with the rated power. B) Had performance issues with the rated power. C) Showed warranty issues because of the rating or D) The boat was changed and added weight which would neccesitate changing the rating. Not know anything else about the boat, I'd guess the last one, but dropping from 150 to a 115 rating is a huge drop.

You didn't take your medication this morning, did you?
So, it's OK that all the Brunswick-bashers can yap about not being able to easily get a Yamaha on a Lund, but suggest that a Mercury be put on a Skeeter, and I'm a Heretic? Guess I'll have to find something else to do next September 18th, eh?

So this whole thread just begs the question, does the motor sell the boat? Or does the boat sell the motor?
Did you buy that new Lund because it had a Verado? Or do you love your current Yamaha so much that the next rig May be an Alumacraft, Stracraft, Ranger or something without a motor affiliation? Does anyone REALLY believe one boat manufacturer's quality is sooo much better than the others that the motor doesn't matter? (i.e. I hate mercury but I'd buy a Lund with a Merc before I'd consider a G3 w/ a yamaha)

I would guess, and its just a guess, that people go for the boat first, then motor, walking the boat shows and where many fishermen get together you'll hear far more "nice boat, or that's the boat I want" over people saying anything about a motor, other than maybe in reference to hp.
Maybe?
