Fish of a life time.
"Over the past seven years he’s logged 4,500 hours and put 25,000 miles on his boat."
That is called dedication.

All those hours and miles paid off in a big way. Some people wonder why we fish...The very next cast could have that on the other end.

When you boat the outlet at the Torch Lake outlet, sometimes you'll see really big muskies laying on the bottom in the clear water. Wonder if I ever cruised over this guy. Awesome!

just throwing this out there..nothing against you...but the first two pics really look "photoshopped"..55" fish thats 50lbs?..I go to a Class A Musky lake in NW Ontario every year..theres always a 53 or a 54 caught there...and while they arent brought in and weighed, using the length/girth formula, they are only about 35-40lbs....

ok, flame away

Hey- it's OK to question. Here's another article on the subject. According to this, the muskie was netted in a DNR survey in Spring '09 and measured (and tagged) by a fisheries biologist at 55". It was caught by a sport angler in September '09, reportedly weighed over 50 pounds then- presumably the fish also grew longer over the summer. Length/girth formulas are just estimates and, besides, I haven't seen any girth data on this one. If the 50 lb weight is from a certified scale, there will be a new state record posted- watch for it.

The article says NEW STATE RECORD.
That means its official and true to everyone that isnt a conspiracy theorist.

There was a bass tournament there the same weekend that fish was caught. There were some guys I know at the launch for the weigh in when this fish was brought in. They said the guy had it in some sort of barrel in the back of his boat, would not fit in anything else in the boat. They saw the fish get weighed on the tournament scales and then the DNR came and took it to a certified scale to be weighed. They told me the tournament scale read in the low fifties.

He had it in his ice fishing sled. The field and stream link below has pics of it laying in it. Fish is just huge.
