Old ducer new unit

I want to know if you can use the old grey plug transducer on a newer blue plugged unit. There are less pins on the older unit but will it work? Will it just not have temp maybe? Will it mess up something? Has anyone done this?

If it fits it will work well as a transducer, but no temp.

I use a 5 year old "gray" plug transducer on an HDS. Works like new.
