View Full Version : Fuel pressure problem kicker motor
I have a 99 Johnson 9.9 kicker. After about a 30 min run time the ball on the fuel line loses pressure. I have to squeeze it about every two minuets. I replaced the line from the motor back to the ball. I am still having the same problem. I would appreciate any help.
Hook a vacuum gauge on the fuel pump and see if it pulling vacuum, also check to see if you vent on the tank is open and check the squeeze ball.

Hey Gear... if it is the fourstroke. You may be able to get a better fuel pump.
We found that a certain Yamaha watercooled fuel pump bolts onto a lot of different 9.9 four strokes.
It has been a while since I was involved.... ...but I think your motor was one of them.
As I recall it is the (newer)T-9.9 pump....?

If you're running it off a seperate tank, make sure the air vent on the tank is open and not blocked. I had the same trouble and it turned out the air vent was blocked and it did exactly as you described.

Go the cheap way first and try a new primer bulb.
