Has anyone recieved the "Aluminum Boat Owner Questionnaire" in the mail from this place? I am laughing at some of the questions. I think I will but the dollar bill in my pocket and toss the survey. Don't own a tin boat any more.....
Jerk. I mean if you are going to keep the money the least you could do if fill out the survey. Time not worth a dollar, huh? Heck you can make a 20 min phone call for a dollar ...

I suppose I should answer such impelling questions as "If Alumacraft were a car, what brand or type would it be?"
These people don't even identfy themselfs with a cover letter. Just the dollar bill!!

Them's fightin' words!
Just kidding, far be it for me to pour gasoline on the coals...
But cerealy, they asked what kind of car your boat would be??
I'm inclined to agree...I'd probably not respond either, it might encourage them to continue to dream up/ask assinine questions.
What's next, what kind of tree would it be??

Ford F250......a working man's vehicle...a fisherman's boat...certainly not a cadillac, but I haven't seen a "cadillac" boat follow where I go - too much effort.
....and ya didn't even have to pay me a buck!!!
Seriously, it is simply a way for a company to recognize what the public thinks of their product.
To go as far as to slip a dollar in to do the survey shos they are definitely lookoing for your assistance.
While a dollar isn't too much, certainly a person could fill out a few questions for the dollar!!!! I mean, it wouldn't take you more than a few minutes - would it?
If it does, I can see your point, being challenged to take a survey is a tough way to start the day!!!
OK, here is another scenario......I received a "book" in the mail. All I have to do is send, $xx.xx, for this "wonderful hometown" book. I could care less about the frickin book!! Sooooooo, all I have to do is to send it back AND I pay the postage!!
So now I have a book that I do not want AND I do not want to pay the postage. Since it is opened, I do not think that I can send it back,"Return to Sender." I have wanted to throw the book into the recycling bin but have felt a little guilty.
Any suggestions?!?!?

I am not an attorney so this is simply free advice. I have heard that anything sent to you through the mail that you did not request can be kept. You are in no way obligated to pay for it, or send it back.
Anyway, that's what I have heard, and I told that to a company that was sending me books after my obligation (buy three in one year) was over. They simply went away and no longer billed me for the books they sent, so it must be true.

Name calling aside. Why is it that folks like you have to have a "holier than though" attitude? A company (Alumacraft?) hires a marketing firm to get feedback from the consumer (you - yea maybe you're a glass guy, but you still run a boat)and all you can do is rip on them. If I had a nickel for every time I've seen a comment on this board about manufacturers NOT asking for consumer feedback and question why they're not, I could go out for a nice dinner. In fact the question you used as an example is a pretty darn good one if you know how to read between the lines. After all, anyone in their target market owns a car or truck and Not everyone owns a boat. Yet. Ever heard of the old saying about how a dog usually resembles it's owner? Same methodology applies to cars as well. As far as keeping the dollar goes, you have no obligation to the company to respond. In good faith however, I would think you would welcome the opportunity to voice your opinion. After all it's consumer feedback that will shape the marketplace to come. Don't complain about products that don't meet your needs if your not willing to give your input when asked. Same goes with politics. Sure hope you at least vote....
