I did it finally bought a 997si now I need to install the unit on my 619.

My question is were is the best place to mount the transducer. I know there has to be an ideal place. I was thinking on the step just behind where the live-well and drain plug are located.

Anyone have any pictures of your transducer mounting location or maybe a link to some other ideas. I hate to drill holes so I want to mount correctly the first time around.

No one has a side image unit mounted on a Ranger 600 series boat

I don't have a 619 and I'm not familiar with the transom on that rig.

My SI transducer is rigged on a TD mounting board, on a small step on my transom that seems almost designed for transducer rigging. A picture is included below.

i have an 08 620 and my si is mounted under the step back(under the splashwell) part of the boat. i have a plastic thru hull mounted there. works great. no problems. i had to drill one hole. and the dual beam transducer is epoxied in thru hull model. works really good. i don't have any pics but could get some over the weekend.

hope this helps

What boat do you have it on. and what is a TD mounting board.

If you don't want to use your si transducer at high speeds, I have seen many boats with then mounted just in front of motor where the livewell drains there it will be out of water at speeds. They have second trans. glassed in to hull.

I didn't want to drill any holes in my 621 so I mounted it to a bracket on the motor.

TD mounting board = TransDucer mounting board, like this one:

I have some pictures of transducer location and head unit on my Ranger 619. That I will add to post.

Everything work as advertised, the side image worked perfect even with the outboard trimmed down. I was wondering about that. I like the brown screen best for the side image view. I shorted up my left and right views to 100 ft. Depths I looked at were from 2 ft down to 30 ft. And left everything set to auto. Or at least I think it is set there.

I am sure what weeds look like and also found a large dock pole to look at too I fabed up that funny looking thing on the head unit out of nylon straping and velcro to hold the cover in place at road speeds.

How did you fix that? ie: picture link

And what did I do wrong?

Also I have cleaned up the wire routing with the provided hold downs not the wire ties. Didn't want to drill any more holes until I confirmed the transducer location.

If you look at your link, it reads: http:// (http://%3ca%20href=%22http//s178.photobucket.com/albums/w270/capttim29/?action=view&current=IMG_0110.jpg%22%20target=%22_blank%22%3E%3 Cimg%20src=%22http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w270/capttim29/IMG_0110.jpg%22%20border=%220%22%20alt=%22head%20u nit%22%3E%3C/a%3E)Having hung around on a BBS or two, I know that it should look like this:
http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w270/capttim29/?action=view&current=IMG_0110.jpg (http://%3ca%20href=%22http//s178.photobucket.com/albums/w270/capttim29/?action=view&current=IMG_0110.jpg%22%20target=%22_blank%22%3E%3 Cimg%20src=%22http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w270/capttim29/IMG_0110.jpg%22%20border=%220%22%20alt=%22head%20u nit%22%3E%3C/a%3E)...so I just copied that part out and posted it.

I'm used to a link that looks just like mine with in front of it and behind it, and the picture just pops up right in the posting ...but apparently the folks that run this BBS don't want pictures of stuff slowing the load times, which is a great policy - lots of BBS have horrendous load times because of tons and tons of pictures, and you have to think about the poor guy who doesn't have cable, or satellite, or high speed of any kind, getting frustrated and giving up because someone has loaded 23 pictures of his new fishing boat "LULU II"...
