Upsize everything a little. Big thumper blades on spinners, little bit larger cranks and anything that rattles!

In stained water fish use their other senses more then their sight.

I fish several northern Wisconsin lakes and flowages that are very stained. I still keep my jig as small as possible (1/16th ounce generally), but I use hot two-tone colors. For example: glow/pink, glow/bright green, glow/orange. For crankbaits again I have found that the hotter colors are better (firetiger & chartreuse Shad Raps, "parrot" suspending Wally Divers).

Best Regards,

As far as jigs go, I like to use pink with a white tail. I also like blaze orange with a pumpkinseed tail. Chartreuse with chartreuse tails is good as well. Mix it up and see what the fish want that day.
As far as cranks go, firetiger will work. Clown is pretty good too. Always experiment.

Wilson.
First, I loved you and Tom Hanks in that show where you were both stranded on that island. Anyway, I would first ask whether you were a A' Natur'al fan when it comes to cranks or (use anything that works kinda guy). If you've ever caught walleye or any specie in stained or cloudy water, you've probably noticed they take on the waters color to a degree. Then like a miracle, they turn darker black and green while in the livewell. All fish species do this for both protection or forage advantage. Try to match to some degree the color of the water while using stuff that has a distinct darker tones. Rather it be the lateral lines or herringbone features on the crank bait itself. If that fails go to fire tiger. Capt: Dan.

I fish the Berens and Dogskin Rivers in Manitoba. Canadian Shield and stained water. The forage here are perch and shiner minnows. For cranks I have had my best luck with firetiger colours, Bomber Long A's & Shadrap RS. Walleyes here love them, Pike too. For jigs, chartreuse; bright green; or bright orange. The fish here are very black and gold. Nice.
