I just found out that I will have to wait 6-7 weeks for a Merc 115 4 stroke for the new rig! Worse than that it will not come with the advertized 5 year warranty since it will not get under the April 15 cut off date. What a bummer. :( :(

just my $.02! I think they will extend the 5 year warr, through the summer! It is not the public to blame for there problems! I feel they have a good product but need to profect it better before they release it.

Can't do that. It is so! My unit is sitting around waiting for a 115. They sold out Yammi's and Merc's. They had six on order when I closed on 3/23/02, and was told that it would be six to eight weeks before delivery. He did say and have on my contract, that because the order was signed and closed before April 15th, Mercury would honor the offer as well as others closed before the cutoff date. Hang in there, your not alone in this boat! The Kingfish.
Whats a new merc 115 4 stoke worth

When shopping for my rig, the going rate for a new 115 4-stroke from almost all dealers was around $7,400 to $7,600. At some places the Merc and the Yamai's were the same price, at others the Yammi was about $200 more! Now, I think that was pretty close with the unit alone or with a setup. The Kingfish.

Ya iamwalleye1. I have never read or heard anything negative about the Yammi or Merc 115 4-stroke. What seems to be their problems. They are selling like hotcakes and I have only heard good things about them. Old Sadie.

I dont get it, the merc plant is stating they are very slow, and last time I was up there a few weeks ago, they werent running anywere near capacity. I wonder if they underestimated the market.

Blame those tired, old, (or new and young but trained by the old ones) living in the past, marketing execs who told the production division that most of the consumers would wait until 2006 to start buying 4 strokes. That the consumers just loved to mix oil and gas, and then breath it all day long, and would prefer that to a clean, quiet motor.
Mercury and Yamaha can't produce enough 4 strokes to meet the demand. The other companies, like Honda which produces only 4's, and Suzuki is not a high demand brand either, so no production backlog.

Coming from a yamaha rep all merc 115 are made by yamaha and they only alotted them so many for the year. Keep on your dealer, he may call around and find one at another dealer to get you yours.
LOTS OF MERC DEALERS OUT THERE!!!
