I'm looking at adding a fuel filter / water separator to my boat. I have a 90 hp Yamaha 2 stroke and an 8 hp Honda 4 stroke. My fuel line from tank to engines is 3/8" diameter. I would like to have a single inlet, dual outlet head to alleviate the tee going to my kicker.

I was looking at Yamaha's 10 micron filter, but it has 1/4" inlet and outlet fittings. I know I could use 1/4" NPT to 3/8" barb fittings, but would that create too much pressure drop? Should I look for a 3/8" inlet and outlet filter head?

Thanks for the help.

Ray,
a 1/4"NPT thread takes a 7/16" diameter tap drill, so there are no issues with a 3/8" hose barb that has a 1/4"NPT threaded fitting. In fact, the 1/4" NPT-3/8" hose brass fitting I just measured has a .280 diameter hole straight thru it, which is as larger as it could be due to the hose barb end.

Thanks HRG. I'll pick up that Yamaha filter then.
