What aftermarket motor mount would you guys use if any on this model of boat?

I believe Panther makes a static mount for that setup? My brother has one on his 681 with a T-8.

Howdy,

My first Ranger was a 2000 681VS with a 115 Ficht Ram and a 9.9 4-stroke. Initially, the boat came with a static plate, however, after the first week of fishing this set up proved to be totally inadequate. The motor, without its own tilt and trim, would not stay up in rough or even semi rough water. The hole shot by the way, with a 4-stroke kicker and a DI engine (when the boats hull was designed for old school carbureted engines) was dreadful.

After my first trip to Canada I replaced it with a Panther lift and it worked much better.

If you are getting a motor with its own tilt and trim, like the pro kicker a static plate is fine. If not, however, you will need some type of lift like the Panther. Either way you may need to be flexible on the prop as that hull is very narrow and, with a lot of weight in the back, and a low tank of gas in the bow, can be tough to plane out under certain conditions.

Take care,
