Do I need some sort of software program to transfer waypoints from one lCX27C I have to the other??
Manual is a bit fuzzy on it, or I'm on the wrong page again...:D

No software program needed. Put an SD card in the 27 with the waypoints, transfer your waypoints to the SD card, move it to the other 27, and load your waypoints from the card to the 27.

I can help you. Give me the locators. I'll get the waypoints transfered and get the locators back to you at the end of next fall. I'll even pick up the locators......
Transfer is real easy. Shuttle memory cards back and forth. We've transfered between boats while on the water. Printed directions aren't so great. I actually fire up the Lowrance Simulator program a few times in the winter just to keep from forgetting all the menus.
Alan if you put the NEMA 2000 cable between the units it will keep waypoints in sync as you add new ones. It does not keep ICONS in sycn but will manage the waypoints. Punch it in one and it shows up on the second unit.

The NMEA 2000 network does not sync the waypoints. If I rememeber correctly, if one of units isn't turned on it will not put the waypoint on that unit and will not update it when it is turned on. With the yellow E-net network on the HDS models they will sync, so when the other unit is turned on it will update any missing waypoints on it. I am not sure it will work on the LCX models though.
Correct they both have to be on when you punch in the new waypoint, forgot to mention that

Thanks guys, a SD card looks the easist.
Vern, not sure you'd want any of mine, unless your looking for places that don't have fish...:)
But your more than welcome to come along one day and show me a few of yours, I'll even mark them in mine so we don't forget or lose them...

I'd even send them to you if you want. Some this years Winnie waypoints and tracks worked pretty good. However, No Guarantees, No returns, your result will vary....
Vern
PS If you do chose to want to edit, sort, etc waypoints, I have been using the Navionics HotMaps Explorer program on my PC. Lets me email a subset of the waypoints, tracks and routes needed for a particulat lake to my friends prior to a trip. Its also a nice planning tool and sells for $25 or so.

It is a good idea to save your data regularly on one of the SD/MMC cards just incase a unit goes down someday.
I save the data on that file to my computer as well, incase I ever lose the SD/MMC card.
When you "save" you have to tell it where and what the file name you want. To be safe, I lock my mapping card so it can't be written on or I have even taken it out to be safe, so I wouldn't load a file on a map card and mess something up.
When you "load" you are loading the data from the file and card you select to the unit.
After a couple of times it is really easy and only takes a few seconds.
Good luck

Thanks guys, hadn't thought of backing them up.
Getting late for this year, but Vern, if ya want to get out and compare waypoints I'd be up for it...any excuse to get out fishing and meet someone new.
I'll look into the explorer program, wondering if eventually you could have waypoints for different species and just load the points for each?
Al...who right now would have points for carp and snags :)
