Had stored the 2050 Reata, 225 HO for the year on Oct 24th! Temp was 68 degrees on Saturday/Sunday, decided to take a ride on the Madison WI chain of lakes....I know there is a lot of discussion about motors on this board, but let me tell you, there is nothing like winterizing you rig at the boat landing!!!

If I would have paid to winterize my rig I would not have taken it out Saturday-Sunday, but since it takes 5 min to winterize at the landing on the trailer, it really extends the season and spur of the moment boating!!

Just a thought,

Lou

Lou,

I hear what you are saying.

I was on Geneva this past Saturday trying to find a few more fish. My partner and I worked water from 5' to 40' and came up with nothing. It looks like here in northern Illinois we'll have a 'good enough' Saturday coming up to go out again.

I never plan on putting the boat to bed until at least mid-November. When we get a couple of bad weekends in a row, that's when I call it a season.

In my area we never call it a season, we fish all winter long on the lower river which never freezes. steelhead, brown trout and lakers are all available.

Usually after a couple bad trips I start thinking about the Duck migration. So preperation for the hunting season begins at that point, no time to fish then anyway so the boat gets winterized. Putting it in storage today.
