Need some more info, what kind of boat, where the hole is, how old the boat is.

The hole is on the passenger side on the bow, with about a 2 or 3 foot gouge. The boat is a 1993 Crestliner 18 ft.

I would weld the hole, and polish/blend out the gouge and keep and eye on it.

If the gouge is super severe you could either lap patch or flush patch, or run a bead over it while you already have the welder out.

Even if you don't have a welder, it should not be too much to have a pro do it.

Careful with the welder, not to set floatation foam (inside hull) on fire.

This might do it.
