I'm thinking about a little bigger boat. I have my eye on the Yar Craft 209 TFX. Anybody have some experience with this boat that would help me make a decision? All comments welcome. I'm trying to decide Yar 209 or Ranger 620. Thanks

I would suggest pricing them both, both are fine boats but given what you can buy a really nice 620 for on this website, it's hard to miss. Also others may have opinions about the water thing as well as storage and fit and finish. Good Luck

Have you taken a look at the Warrior boats? I have a couple people in my fishing club with them and they seem to love them.

I traded a 1891 Warrior in last spring for my 209TFX and all I can say is, "WOW!". It cuts through the water and handles like a dream. There is ample storage for tackle and it holds a ton of rods.
I looked hard at Rangers last spring. I've ridden in several 620s (2002-2007 models). I think in 2007 they changed the hull and made it a touch faster and it rode good, but had issues with water comming over the bow when fishing. I belive they changed the hull this year and went halvies between the older and newer 620.
One issue I saw with the Ranger was the u-shaped rear storage. Its nice to have a Cabela's in the boat, but I rarley have less than 3 people in the boat. I am one who has brings everything I can. Just ask Burr. I have plenty of room for tackle.
I believe the ride is better and you can get wet in a Yar-Craft. Just talk to anyone who had ridden with my old man. He has yet to figure out how to drive his 2095DC.
Price was also played a factor. The 620 I looked at had identical motors (250 Opti ProXS and 9.9 ProKicker), electronics, and bow mount. I came out ahead in excess of $10,000 going with the Yar.
If you wanna go for a ride, I'm in Devils Lake.

Wow the Yar was cheaper than the 620, where I live, it's the other way around. you can buy the Ranger for quite a bit less than the Yar. I'm sure it's just the difference in dealers.

I have a Yarcraft 209 and I absolutely love it. The ride is outstanding. The storage is also unbelievable.

I was looking at the 219 till i found a sweet deal on a 621 in the classifieds. i dont think you can go wrong with either one. but there is some great deals on some rangers in the classifieds. a guy can save some serious money finding a used one all loaded up with very low hours.

Thanks for the replies to all. I have a couple of return questions; first I think Ranger made a hull change at the end of 08' on the 620's has this resolved the problem of water coming over the bow while fishing?

Great rig. Ran one for two years now and cannot complain one bit.
Check out the Yar-Craft web site. They have their personal boats for sale from last year.

Kregs,
I do not where you are from, but you need to ride in this boat. I have had three 209's now and will put them head to head against any of the others. I live in S.E. Wisconsin, let me know if you want a test ride. Either way I can find someone to give you a ride.

Kregs,if possible take Mr.Kemos up on the offer.I rode with him on the third day of the first A.I.M tourney on Saginaw Bay.Besides one rouge wave that launched us airborne that was one sweet ride.I have ridden in Rangers, glass Lunds, regular Lunds,Warriors, and Skeeters and have to say the 209 was one, if not the best ride in big water.Good luck in your search.
