Just wanted some input on a 1996 Ranger 681VS. Is this boat big enough to fish Mille Lacs if you're careful about what you're doing?? I also fish small rivers, how much water does it really NEED. And what kind of speeds can be expected with a 125 hp motor on average. I know the load will change this a lot, just looking for estimates. Thanks.

Yes, 14-16 inches draft, at least 45mph.

I have a 1998 Ranger 681vs and have fished Mille Lacs alot. If you are fishing Walleyes and think of yourself as a wannabe tournament type then I would look at something else.

If you are doing Muskie, Bass and Walleye for enjoyment then yes it will handle Mille Lacs. As with any boat you need common sense particularly when it comes to Mille Lacs.

Mine is powered with a 135 hp Opti Max and has been an excellent motor. If you want to look one over or have more questions drop me a PM with your contact info.

Thanks guys. I have no intention for tournaments, just mainly musky, and usually myself or 1 other. I'll probably only fish the bigger lakes every other year or so, just wanted to be sure it would handle it when needed. Thanks again.
