Anyone out there have a Suzuki 115 4-stroke? They came out last year I think and are hardly any bigger than the 2-stroke they replace. I have the 115 2-stroke from 1998 and it has been flawless but I'm very curious about its replacement.

My partner just bought one. I guess it is 25% lighter then any other 4stroke in its class. It is also $2-3000 more expensive but carries a 6yr warranty. We are waiting for the handle to come in.

Winner Z880 has one purchased new last year with the six year warranty. It is a wonderful engine. Too bad it's on his bass boat instead of a 17' deep V. Ah well...

I just checked and Winner Z880 has not registered yet. However, if you send me a personal message, I'll send you his email address and you can ask him about his four stroke 115. My brother loves his engine.

Last fall I picked up a new 2002 115 Suzuki 4stroke to put on the back of my 1700 Angler... I sure am impressed with this motor! Fished open water till mid December (Bay-De-Noc) and it never missed a beat. Easy starts, quiet, and you could idle all day without even a sputter. I am also impressed with the power this motor has while taking off. The gear reduction system matched with the 23 pitch prop sure gets you on plane fast.
Ive got approximately 20 hours on this motor and I'm still smiling!

I have owned one for a year. It's the tiller version, on my 620T. I estimate at least 80 hours on it so far. It is the most compact of the 115 4 strokes out there. I have taken a few potential buyers and the 3 things that stand out is the holeshot performance, how quiet it is, and how slow it will forward troll. Good on gas. I believe it uses about .6 gal/hour at trolling speed (my old 4 cyl, 50 hp merc 2 stroke used 1 gal/hour). 10 years ago I had a Suzuki 55hp 2 stroke. Absolutely the best 2 stroker I owned. I really enjoy the 115. If you have any specific questions please let me know.

David,
on an unrelated matter, can you tell me why I am listed as guest member? I see you are not. I have been logging in for over a year and my profile is complete. I can't try to register because the moment I put in my user name it says already in use which is correct because I use it all the time. I went back and forth with the moderator on this topic but all he could do was confuse me further. Any ideas?

I just picked up my Suzi 4-STK 115 last Thursday. I'm only into hour 3 on the break-in, so I'm not up to max throttle yet. At 4,000 RPM with a 19 pitch prop at 5,000' altitude (Denver) it got up to 27 mph (GPS) with my Lund 1675 ProSport. I still need to learn how to do trimming properly, but it doesn't seem like you need a gauge other than your tachometer for that.

The motor weighs about 420#. It is so quiet at trolling speed (~650 rpm & ~2 mph)that the slight splashing of the cooling water hitting the lake is louder than the motor.

I haven't found any technical information on gas consumption. There was something on the Suzuki homepage on the 115 mounted on a Mr. Pike, but the font was so small I couldn't read the graphs.

Mike,

Just go into your profile and under user preferences check the automatic login when returning box. Took a day, but now I am logged in automatically! Great for a computer dufus like me!

On my 620 I get around 37 mph with a 20" pitch. Dealer claims the new handle and a 22" prope should take me up around 40mph. We'll see!

Bump,

Anyone have information on the gas consumption? Thanks.

I have one on my Triumph 190 CC Bay Boat. Not out of the break-in period yet, but at 4000 rpm I got 32 mph going into a 20 mph wind with a 1-foot wave chop. It is extremely quiet, and not much bigger than my Yamaha 25 hp four stroke. The Triumph hull weighs 1700 pounds, I had a full (39 gallon) tank, and my dad and I (360 pounds combined) were on board.

So far I highly recommend this motor!

I have one that I bought a little over a year ago. I love the motor. It starts immediately, runs quietly, trolls slowly, doesn't smoke and moves my 17 1/2 ft fiberglass bassboat at 50mph with 2 people. I seldom run wot so speed isn't a really big issue with me. Gas consumtion is low enough that I haven't bothered to measure it. If I had to mention a complaint of any kind, it would be a little vibration at idle speeds. All 4 bangers vibrate more than a 6 cyl would. I traveled about 60 miles to get mine and could have bought a merc from a good dealer here where I live. I wanted the technology.
In my younger years I have owned a couple Suzuki motorcycles and was impressed with their performance and reliability.
